Living my dreams

I always want to make my wife happy. Recently, we discussed the possibility of someday residing in New Zealand.
I offered the idea knowing that it’s a calm small country, with adequate public service, lovely nature and not that far from Indonesia.
Of course it’s not like something we’re actually going to do…but it’s just wonderful to think and plan for your retirement, dont you agree?
Being the dreamy little girl that I know her so much…my wife developed this idea into a full set fantasy…
She said she does not wish to have a big house but would prefer large lawn…I said okay
She said, she wants to have animals living around the house…I offered sheeps…something I know for sure abundant in New Zealand.
She said…she wants to have bunnies…hmm maybe one or two, I said
She said…can she have hamsters…why not, they are small enough, I said
She then hinted for another animal…something that lives on trees and grey…hmm birds…bats?
She said…no…Squirrel…saying this with her lovely bright eyes of her.

I hate to burst her bubble but I said…there is no naturally-living (maybe pets but not wild ones) squirrel in New Zealand, Dear…
She stared at me with disbelief and suspicious look…
Really? How can that be possible for a country not to have squirrels…apparently she thinks that squirrels live everywhere…the kinds of sweet fallacy my wife frequently have about cute animals, happy things and almost any thing  she put her mind on.
I tried to explain to her about biodiversity…about geographical restrictions to species distribution…about biological characteristic of certain species specific for certain region or climate or environment conditions
She thought I was only teasing her…so she searched the web for squirrels in New Zealand.
Along the process, we found out that she in fact thought that New Zealand is somewehere between Indonesia and Australia (Christmas Island being part of her image of where New Zealand is).
She was kinda upset to find out that it is even further than Australia, from Indonesia, and mostly dominated by birds and sheeps
Well, I’ve told her that today she will find something in the internet about squirrels in New Zealand.
I have told her that if she believes enough about it, a squirrel somewhere in New Zealand will exist by the time we are supposed to retire there
And I made this posting for her to be able to find an entry on Squirrel in New Zealand…which is why I kept throwing the words around.
